Andrew Middleton joined South West Lincolnshire CCG in June 2017 as Lay Member for Governance having held for four years the parallel role on the governing body of South Lincolnshire CCG, a close partner organisation. Previously, between 2005 and 2013, Andrew served as a non-executive director (NED) of South West Lincolnshire Primary Care Trust (PCT) and Lincolnshire PCT.
Prior to his twelve years in health commissioning Andrew’s main career spanned 34 years in further education in Lincolnshire, including four years as Vice-Principal of Grantham College and eighteen years as Principal of Stamford College. Other roles included 12 years as an Ofsted Inspector and NED roles at the Nursing and Midwifery Council and the National College for School Leadership.
Having lived in the south-west Lincolnshire area for 28 years Andrew has been registered with three of the nineteen GP practices which comprise the CCG and has been an extensive user of Grantham and Nottingham hospitals.
In addition to his experience on six public sector audit and governance committees Andrew is a constant advocate for better value and quality of NHS services. Andrew has sat on two Department of Health advisory committees and is an Expert by Experience, a lay member of Care Quality Commission inspection teams.
